Tierra Patagonia
We stayed at Tierra Patagonia during the second half of our honeymoon. After spending ten days exploring Antarctica and sleeping in bunks aboard an ice-strengthened Russian research vessel, the luxurious comforts and breathtaking views of Tierra Patagonia were the perfect, grand finale to our honeymoon adventure.
Tierra Patagonia is a luxury, adventure hotel located just outside Torres del Paine National Park in Southern Chile. Positioned on the banks of Lake Sarmiento, with floor-to-ceiling windows running the lengthen of the building, panoramic views of the Cordillera Paine mountains are the constant backdrop to your stay.
The hotel offers guests the opportunity to actively and adventurously explore the Patagonian outdoors through daily guided excursions, but also a cozy sanctuary to relax and enjoy the grandiose surroundings.
The wide variety of excursions are led by experienced Chilean guides and range from full-day hikes and horseback rides to short bike trips and scenic lake voyages. There are guided excursions suited for all ages and fitness levels, in addition to a number of self-guided walks and bike rides immediately around the hotel property.
Probably the hardest decision of all is whether you want to spend the day outside exploring the beauty of Torres del Paine or instead admire it from inside Tierra Patagonia’s cozy living room with a lap blanket and a glass of fine Chilean wine.
Whether you chose to head out on an excursion or just relax in the spa, each day at Tierra Patagonia ends with the sun setting onto the massive Cordillera Paine mountains and an incredible meal in the hotel’s all-inclusive restaurant and lounge.
Tierra Patagonia was designed by renowned Chilean architect Cazu Zegers. The structure is intended to be as unobtrusive as possible and fit seamlessly into the natural environment. The hotel is built from washed Lenga wood and maintains a low profile in the hillside above Lake Sarmiento in an effort to keep the Cordillera Paine mountain range the focal point of the region.
Tierra Patagonia has 37 standard and superior rooms and three suites, all that offer panoramic views of Torres del Paine.

It’s not just the incredible views that make dining at Tierra Patagonia a truly unforgettable experience. Each day the culinary team creates simple, hearty and delicious menus with locally sourced ingredients – seafood from the Strait of Magellan and Beagle Canal, meats and lamb from nearby ranches and calafate and myrtle berries from the pampas surrounding the property.
While breakfast is a beautiful buffet spread, lunch and dinner are each three-course meals, perfectly paired with excellent Chilean wines. The focus for every meal is Patagonian authenticity, but there are always tasty and imaginative options for vegetarians and others with dietary restrictions.
The dining room boasts magnificent lake and mountain views and offers spaced-out private tables for an intimate and relaxed dining experience. Off to the side of the dining area sits a circular wooden bar that serves a full-range of cocktails, artisan beers and the Chilean national drink – the Pisco Sour.
Dining at Tierra Patagonia is included in the hotel’s all-inclusive package, along with an open bar that features artisan beers, house wines and liquors.
