For a small country, Scotland has made quite the impact on the world. It’s the nation that produced the first telephone, television and flushing toilet. It’s also the country that gave the world Sherlock Holmes, Peter Pan and the Olympic sport of curling. From a visitor’s standpoint, Scotland is know around the world for its beautiful landscapes and the generosity and warmth of its people. There’s lots of fun to be had too, from the rocking nightlife in Glasgow to the annual Royal Military Tattoo in Edinburgh, Scotland has something to offer for everyone.

When to Go: July-August is warm but wet and expect to be bit by insects. June has long days and perhaps offers a better chance of staying dry and seeing wildflowers. Late fall and winter are short on daylight hours and snow is likely in the hills.
